Dev Notes

Kappi was the first game I worked on in a large group, Aztec Game Lab. For this game, I decided to join the level design team instead of the programming team because it sounded like interesting work.




I instantly fell in love with drafting up levels for this game, coming up with puzzles, and designing the flow of the game. I worked on 3 of the 12 levels.

Building levels for a metroidvania was super interesting because I had to think about which abilities the player had at any point in time to ensure that they couldn't reach certain levels until they were "ready". This made puzzle-building challenging but exciting.
